Essential Job Functions: | 1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with university policies and procedures. 2. Develops and executes a comprehensive billing strategy aligned with the organization's financial goals and objectives. 3. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance billing efficiency and accuracy while minimizing errors, reducing manual intervention, and streamlining operations. 4. Oversees the end-to-end billing process, including invoice generation, distribution, and collection. 5. Handles complex billing issues and disputes, collaborating with internal departments and customers to find timely resolutions. 6. Evaluates, implements, and maintains billing systems and technologies to optimize processes and maintain data integrity. 7. Works closely with IT teams to integrate billing systems with other relevant platforms. 8. Generates regular reports, analyzes data trends, presents findings to senior management, and identifies areas for improvement and strategies for optimization. 9. Provides enterprise leadership for patient and customer services encompassing patient access, payer and patient payments, revenue integrity, and other aspects of access and financial responsibility relationships with payers and patients. 10. Stays current with industry regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements related to billing. 11. Develops and implements comprehensive revenue cycle strategies to improve cash flow, reduce denials, and increase revenue capture. 12. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics related to revenue cycle performance. 13. Works closely with the Office of Compliance with coding and billing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines, payer requirements, and government regulations (e.g., CMS, HIPAA). 14. Develops and maintains policies and procedures that support effective revenue cycle operations. 15. Performs other duties as assigned. 16. Completes special projects as assigned. |

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: | Knowledge: 1. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). 2. Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, revenue recognition, and financial processes. 3. Advanced knowledge of EMR and billing software programs. 4. Advanced knowledge of HCPCS, ICD, CPTs, Revenue Codes, DRG, payment methodologies, and managed care operations. 5. Advanced knowledge of healthcare billing, coding, reimbursement principles, and industry regulations. 6. Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. 7.
